About the Society

York University Dancesport is one of the largest societies on campus.

Membership costs only £4 and is necessary for insurance etc. It also includes a free lesson so it's a great opportunity for you to try out and it won't cost you loads.

The society is run by the committee who are elected by the society in week 9 of the spring term.

What is Dancesport? Watch the video below!

Dancesport is the international name for Ballroom and Latin American dancing. Standard Ballroom dances include Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep and Tango. Latin American dances include Rumba, Samba, Cha Cha, Jive and Paso Doble.

As one of the longest running societies on campus, we take pride in providing some of the cheapest Ballroom and Latin American dance lessons in York with the highest quality of teaching from our professional teacher.

We run lessons open to all every Tuesday evening between 6.30 and 9.30. For more information about lessons visit the lessons section.

Dancesport at Woodstock

Our performance at campus event 'Woodstock' was well received by the crowd. Thanks to all those that took part or attended.

York Dancesport Team Win

York Dancesport Team win at Lancaster with 2.5 points to 1.5 as part of the annual Roses competition against the University of Lancaster.
