Workshops

This year we are hosting workshops and private lessons with some of our Mustang Ball professional judges staff on Sunday, February 5th. We are offering some great prices for both the workshop and private lessons. Don't miss this great opportunity to obtain instruction and valuable dance insights from some of this country's top dance professionals!

Workshop Schedule

David Weise and Borbala Bunnett will be teaching two American Smooth Workshops.

These workshops will be useful to dancers of all levels. Knowledge of particular steps or figures will not be required, but some general experience in American Smooth or International Standard will be beneficial in taking these workshops. Both workshops will be held in the Chumash Auditorium, the same site as the Mustang Ball Dance Competition.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are available with David Weise, Borbala Bunnett, and Monika Olejnik. David, Borbala, and Monika have many years of experience in all styles of dance, including Standard, Latin, Smooth, and Rhythm. David and Borbala are offering a special Mustang Ball lesson rate of $65 for 45 minutes for students, and $85 for 45 minutes for non-students. Monika Olejnik is offering a rate of $75 for 45 minutes for students, and $85 for 45 minutes for non-students.

Lessons are available on Sunday starting at 9:30am. Availability is limited, so please book your lesson early.

Instructor Bios

David and Borbala began their partnership in the summer of 2010. Since beginning to compete together, they have placed in the finals of major competitions - in 2010 the Hollywood Dancesport Championships and the Autumn Dance Classic, and in the 2011 the City Lights Ball, California Star Ball, Vegas Showdown, Emerald Ball, San Diego Dancesport, and the Colorado Star Ball.

Borbala Bunnett

Borbala, originally from Hungary, began her dance education at age 11 while living in Moscow, Russia. She quickly fell in love with the sparkle and energy of competing, the joy of working in a partnership, and the benefits derived from the rigors of practice. Dancing followed her throughout her global journey as she lived, trained, and competed in Hungary, Russia, Japan, the United Kingdom, and throughout the United States over the past decade.

Prior to her Professional dance career, Borbala was a finalist in the USA Amateur National Smooth and 9-Dance Championships over multiple years, as well as in the USDC Open Standard Pro-Am Championships.

Borbala holds a BA in Economics from Bryn Mawr College and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, and works for one of the 'Big Four' professional services firms. Borbala is also a certified Pilates instructor, and incorporates a whole body approach into her teaching..

David Weise

David, a Bay Area native, leveraged his unique methodology and support of a world champion coaching team to quickly rise through the ranks as a Professional Smooth competitor, placing 2nd in the World Professional Smooth Championships in 2006.

In addition to significant achievements in the ballroom dancing arena, David is also active in film, stage, TV, sports, and entertainment. His dancing film credits include featured dancer roles in Dance With Me and Rent. He has coached dancing and performance for the United States Olympic Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, and Dancing with the Stars competitors. David teaches method acting and performs on stage at Shelton Studios in San Francisco, California, and is also the lead singer and songwriter for the band Slippery People.

David holds a degree in criminal justice from Long Beach State College.

Monika Olejnik

Monika Olejnik became a professional competitor and a teacher over 17 years ago. She has traveled around the US where she has won many championship titles with different dance partners. She enjoys teaching and sharing this love of a beautiful art with her students. Monica is currently a professional American Rhythm competitor, and has also competed professionally in Standard and Latin.
